Case study
Designed for everyday enjoyment and future change
Designed in 2013 for Nathan Dart's father, Brocks Road brought together lighting, music and a dedicated theatre, built on infrastructure planned for future change. Years later, that groundwork allowed new owners to bring the whole system back to life.

01
The original system paired Vantage lighting control with RTI control and multi-room audio. Invisible speakers brought music into the kitchen, the dining room and out to the covered terrace, without a trace on the ceiling.
In the living room, Sonance in-ceiling speakers were matched with a subwoofer built into custom cabinetry, and a dedicated theatre with JVC projection set the scene for films. Music at the time came from an iPod collection, selected on the RTI touchscreen.
02
Every component sits in a front-access AV rack, each unit labelled for fast servicing. Active cooling fans with temperature monitoring keep the equipment at a steady operating temperature, and the rack lives in its own equipment room with filtered air and extraction.
Power control is connected to the control system, so devices can be rebooted remotely without anyone reaching behind the equipment.
03
After a change of ownership, the technology sat largely unused for around three years. When the next owners contacted Status, much of the equipment and infrastructure already in place could be revitalised and adapted to the way they wanted to listen and watch.
Control4 replaced RTI and integrated with the retained Vantage lighting, with a new touchscreen fitted into the existing wall opening. The original cabling and video distribution carried new televisions, alongside updated networking and exterior lighting.
Spotify brought streaming to every room, including the invisible speakers in the kitchen and dining room. Netflix arrived on the new televisions and Apple TV in the theatre, returning the living room and theatre to everyday use.
Infrastructure planned in 2013 carried Brocks Road through new owners, a new control platform and a new way of listening.
